Asylum link : Womens group wooden craft workshop
This week, we had the privilege of hosting a creative wooden painting workshop with the incredible women from Asylum Link Liverpool’s Women’s Group. Together, we designed and painted beautiful jewellery, key rings, and magnets—handcrafted pieces that now carry the unique stories and talents of each participant.
Asylum link / Action asylum offer so many workshops & creative initiatives, as well as daily free food, language classes, free clothing legal help & more<3
These workshops offer more than just a chance to create something beautiful; they provide a safe space for expression and connection. For many of the women, it’s a therapeutic way to process their experiences, build a sense of community, and find moments of calm amidst the challenges they face. The women we work with have experienced so much displacement and upheaval, accessing their creative powers helps to give them a sense of relief, pride & create something lasting they get to keep that they’ve made themselves. This helps to improve both their confidence & self esteem & mental health.
🎨 Why Creative Workshops Matter for Mental Health:
• Expressing Emotions: Art allows individuals to express feelings that may be difficult to put into words, helping to process trauma and emotional struggles.
• Building Confidence: Each creation is a step towards reclaiming a sense of agency and accomplishment.
• Fostering Connection: Working together on creative projects strengthens social bonds and reduces feelings of isolation.
• Mindfulness and Focus: The act of painting and crafting encourages relaxation, mindfulness, and being present in the moment, which are all vital for mental well-being.
By supporting initiatives like these, we are not only creating beautiful art but also helping to heal and uplift individuals in the process. Thank you to everyone who joined us—your creativity and strength are truly inspiring!
